Great post John. I love this whole scene, but sadly have never managed to get to a proper drag race. The engineering that's required to get these machines doing what they do is astonishing. Shiny bits shiny bits! But what they enable these cars to do is something else. Your iPhone did a good job too sir!

You're right. The skills that it takes to make these cars cover an 1/8th of a mile in 4 seconds are extremely sophisticated -- the engineering, tuning, and, of course, the driving.

And, then, there's the money. But that's another story.
