Update: It's my understanding that the amazing photo book El Barrio, The Neighborhood: An Insider’s View of Southwood (the subject of this previous post) will be available at Look 3, the Festival of the Photograph, June 11-13, in Charlottesville, Virginia. As I mentioned earlier, El Barrio is the name of the book and exhibition that features photos made by a group of elementary and middle-school students who live in the Southwood Mobile Home Park, in Albemarle County, Virginia, just outside of Charlottesville.
This terrific project introduced the kids to photography, opening the door to creative self-expression and giving all of them a real sense of pride in what they were able to accomplish.
If you're coming to town for Look 3 or if you live in Charlottesville, you owe it to yourself to stop by The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative (a 5 minute walk from the main Festival venues) to see the exhibition and buy a copy of the book at either The Bridge or Look 3.
Thanks John.
We greatly appreciate the support.
