I'm happy to announce that several of my photographs are included in We The People, an exhibition of documentary and portrait photography at the University of Virginia's Arthur J. Morris Law Library that will be on view until June 2018. The exhibit showcases the work of 15 photographers who explore some of the many different ways that we live now, in today's United States.
The opening reception is on Thursday, September 7th, at 5 pm on the second floor of the law library. Like the exhibition itself, it's free and open to the public. I hope that you can come.
All of the photos that I'm exhibiting come from my long-term documentary project on the surprising racial and gender diversity in the drag racing community at Eastside Speedway, in Waynesboro, Virginia. You can see some of my photos, here, and read about the project, here.

The exhibition's curator, Stacey Evans, says that the photographs in We the People "explore a diverse array of individuals, their communities, and the often interweaving, always challenging issues of race, religion, borders, protests, family, friends, history, and identity. Through the beauty and precise capture of photography, it seeks to breathe life into the words of the preamble, to wonder what it means to us now, to today's law, but also to our own posterity." You can hear more of Stacey's thoughts and preview some of the photos in the video below.
